When you are in trouble, when there is an emergency in your home, the ones who are most likely to help you are not your family members who may live too far away to reach you in time. Even your best friend may not be reachable. The ones who are likely to be able to reach you in time are your neighbours.

When you get along fabulously with your neighbours, everyone is happy. My mom and our neighbor loved giving each other gifts during the festivities. My family is Christian while our neighbour"s family are Muslims. Every Christmas, mom would bake all sorts of goodies. She would bring over to our neighbor"s home to give to them. Then comes Hari Raya and our neightbour would pop over with an even larger tray of goodies. Mom would get her even more goodies the next Christmas while come Hari Raya, our neighbour would bring us even more food. Both moms are fabulous cooks so both our families looked forward to both holidays. I still remember the last Hari Raya before she and her family moved out. She gave us so much home cooked food that we feasted on what she gave us for the next few meals.
